13 September The Erasmus+ KA1 project “Changing ourselves today for a better tomorrow. Creating pro-environmental change in the SCDN”, the participants visited the Academy of Agriculture of VMU and met with its representatives. Dr. Ekaterina Makrickienė, Coordinator of International Activities, gave a brief presentation of VMU Academy of Agriculture and its international activities, Assoc. Dr. Anželika Dautartė introduced the activities of the Department of Environment and Ecology, the implementation of ecological projects and initiatives, cooperation with schools in developing ecological awareness of schoolchildren, and the “Smart Student Academy”, whose manager is Brigita Medveckienė. The project participants visited the Communication and Technology Transfer Centre. Edvinas Samys, head of the Centre, and Justinas Blažukas, a specialist, demonstrated the state-of-the-art prototype space.

Aleksandra Potocka-Kuc and Marzanna Kostecka-Biskupska, teacher-consultants at the Holy Cross Teacher Training Centre in Kielce, found similarities with the Academy of Agriculture at VMU: in both Lithuania and Poland, there are Researchers’ Nights, extra attention is paid to the interdisciplinary development of gifted pupils, and the winners of the Olympiads are given extra points for university admission.

The visit is part of the Erasmus+ KA1 project “Let’s Change Ourselves Today for a Better Tomorrow”, implemented by the Kaunas Education Innovation Centre and the Kelciai Holy Cross Teacher Training Centre. Part of the “Creating pro-environmental change in SCDN” programme.
