Kaunas Educational Qualification Centre Library is hosting a travelling exhibition “Innocent Book” prepared by the Lithuanian Museum of History of Education to mark the National Lithuanian Libraries Week, Children’s Advocacy Day… or full speed ahead to a bright tomorrow”. The exhibition from the collections of the Lithuanian Museum of the History of Education presents the 20th century. Lithuanian books – witnesses of living history. Books that have become accessible to almost everyone. In every sense. XX a. most of the population already knew how to read, and there were many books, of all kinds. However, it was in the 20th century that. People who write and read books have been caught in all kinds of traps. Books “emerged” no longer as great ambassadors of creativity, no longer as lessons of the past for the future, no longer as missionaries of light… Especially in the 20th century. In the 2nd half of Lithuania, when the artist worked according to instructions, in combination, when the creator balanced between the systemic order, the self of the creator and the conscience…

The exhibition catalogue prepared by the museum staff is available in the library and consists of five themes: ‘The Book as an Educational Tool 1900-1918’, ‘The Book as an Educational Tool 1918-1945’, ‘The Book of the Little Ones in the Diaspora 1944-1990’, ‘The Book of the Innocent? The Little Book as an Educational Tool 1945-1990″, and The Theme of Stories.
