On 19 April, Kaunas Education Innovation Centre hosted a conference “Global Bilingualism Programme, Possibilities for Implementation”, where representatives from Opole, Poland, presented the international social education programme “Bilingual Future” to the heads and teachers of pre-school and pre-primary education institutions, with the aim of raising awareness about the benefits of bilingualism and introducing an effective system of bilingual education on a global level.
During the conference, the national coordinator of the programme presented the idea of the international social education programme “Bilingual Children” to the participants, and shared examples of activities with students in a Polish kindergarten. The Director of Programme Methodology and Training presented the methodology of the Bilingual Children Programme, and an EU project implementation expert shared the possibilities of implementing the Bilingual Children Programme with EU funding.
The guests from Poland also had the opportunity to present, discuss and share their experience of the bilingualism programme with the Director of Kaunas Education Innovation Centre Rasa Bortkevičienė and the Chief Specialist of the Education Department of Kaunas City Municipality Edvardas Starkis. The meeting discussed the possibilities of implementing the international social education programme “Bilingual Children” in Lithuanian educational institutions and the future prospects of the programme.
