Kaunas Jonas and Petras Vileišiai School in cooperation with Kaunas Teacher Qualification Centre on 14-16 April. Organised the Republican Virtual Lessons of Cooperation for pupils in grades 4, 7-8 on the theme “Earth is Everybody’s Home” to mark World Earth Day. The cooperation lessons were attended by pupils and teachers from Kaunas Jonas and Petras Vileišius School, Kaunas kindergarten “Rūtelė”, Kaunas “Varpelis” Primary School, Kaunas “Papartis” Primary School, Kaunas Pranas Mašiotas Primary School, Kaunas district Zapyškis Primary School, Šakiai “Varps” School and Vievis Gymnasium.
The lessons took place in the Office365 Teams environment. The aim of the collaborative lessons is to develop students’ creativity in making sense of World Earth Day, to foster collaborative competences, and to stimulate interest in global issues and the relevance of Earth Day. The virtual lesson for pupils in grades 7-8 was led by geography teacher Gediminas Grėsius, Lithuanian language teacher Ingrida Nicelytė and English and German teacher Vaida Stubraitė. Grade 4 pupils were talked about World Earth Day by Kaunas Jonas and Petras Vileišiai School Grade 8 pupils Dovydas and Ieva, together with their teacher and geography teacher Gediminas Grēsis and Lithuanian language teacher Aušra Ražauskienė.
The lessons included a presentation of the World Earth Day project and the objectives of the collaborative lesson. The geography teacher told us about Kaunas Jonas and Petras Vileišiai School, which has been running since 2013. has been named a Microsoft Global Demonstration School, giving students the opportunity to test the school’s learning methods and tools. Everyone completed interactive activities on the Genial.ly platform, took part in a quiz, learned interesting facts about our planet Earth, discussed environmental issues and confirmed that everyone can contribute to the common good of the Earth through their actions. Teachers and pupils were delighted with the fun activities and praise.
