The Kaunas Centre for Educational Innovation, together with project partners from France, Italy, Belgium and Spain, is implementing the Erasmus+ project “Fight Against Bullying at School”. From 20 to 23 March, the project participants visited Lithuania and actively participated in bullying prevention activities, acquired new knowledge and skills, and learnt about the methods used in Lithuania to teach bullying prevention.
On the first day of the visit, the project participants were warmly welcomed by the folk dance group “Žolynėlis” from Kaunas Kazis Grinius Progymnasium. The guests had the opportunity to admire Lithuanian dance, to see the national costumes of the Aukštaitija ethnographic region.
During the visit, the project participants also visited schools in Kaunas city, where school managers and specialists presented the school’s goals and activities on bullying, shared valuable experience and engaged the guests in active participation in the activities:
- At the Kaunas Adult and Youth Training Centre, where a seminar on new teaching methodologies was conducted by the school’s director, Dr. Tomas Lagūnavičius, the participants were introduced to post-neuro-educational teaching methodologies, the post-poetic, and systems of indoctrination of meanings. Participants put the knowledge they gained during the seminar into practice by completing practical tasks.
- Rasa Šerpytienė, Director of Kaunas Algis Žikevičius Safe Child School, presented the school’s mission, priorities and the school’s team of psychologists and their unique work in Lithuania. The project participants actively participated in the activities led by psychologists: they applied the forum theatre method – they acted out and analysed various bullying situations together, looked for ways to resolve them, learned and practically tested the biofeedback method – they developed the ability to recognise and regulate their psychophysiological state.
- At Kaunas Jonas and Petras Vileišiai School, the school’s principal Dr Dalia Lapėnienė shared the school’s practical experience in bullying prevention on the topic of “Social Emotional Education: bullying-free 365”. Participants had the opportunity to observe lessons (preschool, pre-primary, primary and primary education), participate in classroom activities, and learn and discuss unique ways of bullying prevention, classroom and school climate improvement.
The participants of the project also got acquainted with Kaunas Old Town, its unique objects and architecture by taking part in the excursion “Getting to know Kaunas Old Town” organised by Kaunas Education Innovation Centre, which was guided by the informative guide Dalia Leonavičienė.
We sincerely thank the school communities and leaders of the Erasmus+ project “Fighting bullying in schools” for their cooperation and sharing their valuable experience during the visit to Lithuania.
