“Developing Creativity Competence in Distance Learning Lithuanian Language Classes”

2021 m. May 13 d., 12:49

In 2021. 12 May. a virtual event on good practice dissemination methodologies. Audronė Kondrotienė, an expert teacher of Lithuanian language, and Solveiga Laučienė, a member of the Lithuanian language teachers’ methodological group in Kaunas and a methodological teacher, shared their good practices. Both teachers work in Kaunas “Saulės” gymnasium.

During the event, teachers A. Kondrotienė and S. Laučienė shared their thoughts, experiences and insights on what Lithuanian language, literature and technology have in common, and why chaos and breaking the rules can be the most direct path towards creativity. To develop students’, and thus teachers’, creativity competence, teachers suggested the following methods: reading, topic/thought mapping; drawing, experimentation, staging, creative writing, association, research; repetition and consolidation. The various methods discussed and the video demonstration of the lesson episodes showed that combining several methods can help to organise independent work, cooperative learning and experiential learning.

Creativity tends to be associated with fun, easy, effortless activities, but this is one of the many myths associated with creativity. Indeed, one of the most important qualities of a creative person is the willingness, the determination and the ability to persevere, to persevere. Of course, communication, constant support and encouragement, and consistent work are very important.

This is what both teachers stressed. They encouraged colleagues not to be discouraged or discouraged if something didn’t work out the first or second time, or if the result wasn’t what was expected.

Participants who at first said that they would not be successful because their students were not creative, at the end of the event were happy to have received a new impetus for their creative pursuits and to be on the right track. They thanked the lecturers for their encouragement and advice, and the illustrations of the methods discussed.
