12 May The traditional anti-corruption knowledge and creativity competition “Be Honest” was held in Kaunas, with the participation of students from grades 5-8. The aim of the competition is to form students’ values, anti-corruption attitudes, intolerance to corruption, and to promote interest in corruption prevention.
For the first time, the Anti-Corruption Knowledge and Creativity Contest was held virtually. 23 teams of 3 students from 19 schools took part. The participants were greeted and the competition was hosted by Edita Vainienė, Deputy Director of Kaunas Aleksandras Pushkinas Gymnasium, Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Working Group, and Laura Vaitkevičienė, Methodologist of Kaunas Pedagogical Qualification Centre, Coordinator of the Anti-Corruption Working Group. The teams competed in two events. The first one – a creative task – was presented by Daina Paštuolienė, Chief Specialist of the Anti-Corruption Education Division of the Special Investigation Service. Each team had to come up with a name and introduce themselves. Create a story/situation related to dishonesty, corruption and propose a solution from the corruption-related items in the photo and create a solution. In the second event, Kristina Pušnovienė, Deputy Director of Kaunas Gediminas Sports and Health Gymnasium, invited one representative of each team to join the quiz “Find the Word”. In this task, the delegates had to find 10 words related to corruption in the shortest possible time and assign them to the correct category.
The team of John Paul II Gymnasium – Gabija Genytė, 8a, Augustas Žilys, 8e, Sima Skeiverytė, 8e, prepared by their teacher – Vaidutė Godaitė, won the 1st place. The second place was won by the team of Kaunas Gediminas Sports and Health Gymnasium – Kipras Vitkevičius, 5a, Justinas Gužys, 5a, Viltė Švedaitė, 5a, prepared by teacher – Edita Mačiulaitienė. III place – Kaunas “Vyturio” gymnasium team – Marius Barila, 8b, Nedas Paulauskas, 8b, Kasparas Vildžiūnas, 8b, teacher – Lauras Bartninkas. Prizes and diplomas will be awarded to the winners of places 1-3. For a good performance and the 4th place the incentive prize and a certificate of appreciation is awarded to the team of Kaunas Dainava progymnasium – Gabija Grilauskaite, 7a, Goda Gaižauskaitė, 7a, Gabriele Kumelyte, 7a.
The competition was organised by the Kaunas Pedagogical Qualification Centre, the Anticorruption Education Unit of the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania, and the Working Group on Anticorruption Education of Pupils in Kaunas City General Education Schools:
